October 23
At last, it feels like fall is here. I actually saw smoke coming from a chimney today. And rain! Not much, but every little bit helps.
Oct. 9
A dear friend of mine died yesterday – Lou Gehrig’s disease. Though it was hard to say good-bye, we are so thankful she went to easily. Life is so fragile. It is important to remember to tell those we love how important they are. Good-bye Genelle. We all loved you in life and will miss you in death.
October 9
OK, it is official – I am ready for summer to be over. And I saw on the news this morning they are expecting a long, hard winter. Can’t win on either end. I remember my grandmother quoting:
As a rule, man’s a fool
When it’s hot, he wants it cool.
When it’s cool, he wants it hot,
Always wanting what it’s not.
I guess she knew me pretty well…..
October 2
I don’t know if autumn will be as spectacular this year as it was last, but I had to take pictures last year because it was so amazing. There is something about the air in October – crisp is the only word I can think of to describe it. The temperature is cool enough so the hot tub feels great, the plants are not drying out every 12 hours, we sleep with the windows open and listen to crickets and frogs….. It’s a good thing I love my job or I’d stay home all the time!
